Frequently Asked Questions
How do container cranes work?
Container cranes are specifically designed to handle the loading and unloading of containers onto ships. They employ a lengthy horizontal arm known as a 'boom' that extends over the container vessel. Knuckle boom container cranes remote control based options let you work from a safe distance or right where the action is, providing an unobstructed view.
What crane moves containers?
A Hiab knuckle boom crane excels at moving containers, storage units, and mobile offices.
What is a containers forklift?
A truck mounted container forklift is designed to lift and handle heavy loaded containers.
What is the best way to lift a shipping container?
Choosing the appropriate equipment for lifting a shipping container depends on several factors including the weight of the container, the location and terrain, the height and distance at which the container needs to be lifted or moved, and the available resources.
Use a Knuckle Boom Crane With:
Heavy Loads: Knuckle boom cranes are suited for lifting heavy containers as they have a high lifting capacity.
Reach and Flexibility: They provide a high degree of flexibility and can reach over obstacles, making them ideal for tight or obstructed spaces.
Vertical and Horizontal Lifting: They are capable of both vertical and horizontal lifting, which can be crucial depending on the jobsite conditions.
Use a Truck-Mounted Forklift With:
Lighter Loads: Generally, MOFFETT truck-mounted forklifts are suitable for lighter loads compared to knuckle boom cranes.
Unloading and Short-Distance Transport: They are excellent for unloading containers from a truck and moving them a short distance to a nearby location.
Fast Operations: If the operation requires quick unloading and placement with less setup time, a truck-mounted forklift can be a good choice.
Use a Hooklift With:
Quick Swapping of Bodies: Hooklifts are ideal when there’s a need to quickly swap bodies on a single chassis, such as switching between a flatbed, dump body, or a container.
Easy Loading/Unloading: They allow for easy and fast loading and unloading of containers onto a truck chassis.
Lower Height Operations: They are more suited for operations where height might be a constraint as they operate at a lower height compared to cranes.
