Raising performance with flexible efficiency

On construction sites, efficiency is essential. It’s what keeps projects on budget, and it’s what gets everyone home on time, every day. How does the HIAB iX.430K HIPRO secure this efficiency? For Fortis Gypsum + Supply, a building material supplier based in Holly Springs, North Carolina, it’s the range of features and innovations that boost productivity, safety, and overall performance.

There are many challenges when it comes to moving valuable supplies around a construction site. The environments are often congested with limited space, especially in urban locations. Then there’s changeable conditions, and also time constraints – construction projects are carefully planned, and everything needs to run as smoothly as possible.

The HIAB iX.430K HIPRO has been designed specifically to overcome the challenges of construction sites and offers the capacity and flexibility required to ensure the job gets done right every time. The continuous slewing is key, delivering 360° of total control.

“The HIAB iX.430K HIPRO we’re using has been a real gamechanger,” says Justin Fredrick, owner of Fortis Gypsum + Supply. “Being able to rotate the crane a full 360° means you can pick up from places based on the easiest, shortest lifting path, or pick up directly from other pieces of equipment. This saves time on every pick, which can quickly add up to saving valuable hours every day.”

“11 years ago, when I first started working with drywall, HIAB is the crane I started out on,” adds Simeon Moore, operator at Fortis Gypsum + Supply. “Now with the 360° rotation, it just keeps getting better, as this makes it easier to set up on jobs, and it gets the job done a whole lot faster.”

This range of movement is important, and it becomes even more of a useful feature when paired with the outstanding capacity of this crane. It’s the optimal combination of exceptional power and relentless, flexible productivity.

Securing site safety

As important as performance is, safety is absolutely essential, and the HIAB iX.430K HIPRO is equipped with a range of features that make sites safer for your people and your payloads.

“The CombiDrive 4 remote control is very accurate and it’s easy to learn and use,” explains Simeon. “There’s also a safety feature where if the remote is dropped, or if it falls, everything is automatically cut off to ensure there’s no potential danger of the crane continuing to move without being under the control of the operator.”

This is the Free Fall detection system, and operation can only resume once the remote is restarted. This is one of many features that help improve the safety of every job. There’s also the Variable Stability Logic (VSL) system that monitors the crane position to calculate lifting capacity in real time.

“VSL allows you to set the stabilizers at various widths, which means you can adjust for job site restrictions and allows you to have traffic passing on one side of the truck,” says Jim Walliser, Product Manager at Hiab. “This feature adjusts the crane's capacity to whatever width you set the stabilizers to, giving you full capacity on the extended side and reduced capacity on the short side. This allows you to run the crane safely in restricted environments.”

Better lifting for the long term

Reliability is essential for any crane, and the HIAB iX.430K HIPRO is a co-worker that can be relied on every day, even in the most challenging conditions. Every part is engineered for optimal durability, and we also offer the support you need to keep downtime to a minimum.

“Hiab has been fantastic. Theirs are the cranes we run, and we run them for a reason,” says Justin. “They are very reliable and they get the job done. The guys like them as well, and that's very important as they operate them every day on job sites. It helps that the safety features are outstanding.”
