Multilift Driver Support

Image

INTRODUCTION

Hiab’s L2 Driver Support is an assistance feature that reverses the ego-vehicle into an optimal position from where the driver can swiftly pick up or drop off a container/body with Hiab’s Multilift products. The driver initiates the process with a push of a button and monitors the safety of the intended operation via the augmented view on an in-cabin screen. The operational design domain comprises typical urban yard and container environments within which the feature can be engaged safely.

The L2 Driver Support feature is equipped with robust safety protocols, adhering to international standards like ISO 26262 and aligning with the EU’s General Safety Regulation.

The L2 Driver Support:

  • FASTER - automates complex maneuvers by reversing the vehicle into place straight in line with the front of the container/body or unloading zone
  • SMARTER - integrates into almost any vehicle equipped with lateral and longitudinal motion control functions
  • SAFER - perceives environment and road users, operates in inclement weather and in GNSS-denied environments with increased safety

KEY FEATURES

PICK-UP OPERATION

  • Driver selects a detected swap body (container or flatrack variant), or manually enters its location via the in-cabin screen
  • Dispatching the vehicle happens through the same in-cabin screen

DROP-OFF OPERATION

  • Driver selects a drop-off location via the in-cabin screen
  • The drop-off location is subjected to occupancy analysis for safety

SITUATIONAL AWARENESS

  • The intended driving task is visualised for the driver via the in-cabin screen
  • Understanding of the environment derive from sensors and algorithms, for example, forecasts of dynamic actor positions add to safety

AUTOMATIC TRAJECTORY PLANNING

  • The planned path is displayed to the driver in a visually intuitive way
  • Smooth acceleration and curvature planning add to ease and comfort
  • Physically impossible routes are always indicated to the driver

AUTOMATIC LATERAL AND LONGITUDINAL MOTION CONTROL

  • Trajectory planning allows visual analysis for safety of the intended operation
  • Driver takeover is possible at all times
