International Women in Engineering Day (INWED, www.inwed.org.uk) is celebrating its 8th year in 2021. INWED is an international awareness campaign which raises the profile of women in engineering and focuses attention on the amazing career opportunities available to women and girls in this exciting industry.

MOFFETT Dundalk is participating in the celebration this year and we take this opportunity to highlight some of the brilliant women in our organisation.

First out is Michelle Courtney, our Shipping Coordinator in Dundalk.

Michelle became interested in working with engineering because she enjoys the concept of building something from the start and seeing it through to the finished product. She chose to work with MOFFETT particularly since Carol Moffett who ran the business back then was an inspiring woman.

We asked Michelle what she likes best about her job. “I like the challenges I am faced with at work. These can range from ensuring we get even the smallest machine components delivered overnight to complete machines in order to meet export sailing deadlines as well as rearranging deliveries to customers at short notice if and when required.

If we want to attract more women in engineering, we should create an incentive scheme, says Michelle.

We end this interview by asking Michelle: If you could be one of our MOFFETT TMFL for one day, which product would you be and what values would you bring to the customer?

I would be the electric MOFFETT; silent but deadly at delivering on time at any time.
