Any way you look at it, HIAB is the original loader crane. Eric Sundin, who co-founded Hiab in 1944, was the first to equip his truck with a hydraulically operated crane, powered by the truck’s own engine.
That simple idea would revolutionise load handling. Just a few years later, the introduction of the HIAB Elefant set today’s “knuckleboom” standard. Innovation has continued ever since, and HIAB loader cranes still define the cutting edge.
What remains unchanged is the drive to meet real needs, from fast and precise control to durability for the toughest working environments. Sundin was his own first customer, and the development of HIAB products is still customer-driven. Though quick and easy to install, HIAB loader cranes are customised for the individual needs of load handling specialists.
No surprise that over a half-million HIAB cranes have been built, or that operators rely on them in 120 countries worldwide.
