Hydraulics are the muscle – and lifeblood – of a loader crane. They have a direct impact on safety and performance, which makes control over the sensitive crane interior a must.
Dirt and impurities in the hydraulic oil can impair crane performance, or even cause component failures that stop the crane entirely. To prevent this, the closed hydraulic system must be clean from the beginning and remain so throughout its lifetime.
For this reason, Hiab has implemented tough cleanliness standards throughout the delivery chain.
Cleanliness should never be taken for granted. At Hiab, its importance is well documented. Hiab has spent thousands of hours investigating the relationship between oil contamination and hydraulic system issues.
Our findings show that particles in the oil cause up to 80% of the hydraulic failures in loader cranes. But the good news is that these problems can be avoided – through proper routines for handling materials, components and the oil itself.
In fact, our attention to cleanliness begins well before our own production. It starts with choosing the best materials and parts from our suppliers, all of whom share our cleanliness focus.
We select our suppliers carefully, and we work closely with them to ensure the cleanliness of the hydraulic parts we receive. Then we do everything possible to maintain it throughout our own assembly.
To safeguard cleanliness all the way to you, we also set requirements for HIAB crane installers and service providers. These establish cleanliness in the work areas, along with detailed procedures for working with parts, hydraulic hoses and the oil itself.
The routines are designed to remove any possibility of oil contamination or degradation – and they make a difference.
HIAB works with cleanliness from start to finish, following a cleanliness standard that is one of the toughest for hydraulics anywhere.
In our own production, we ensure that hydraulic components and systems have been thoroughly cleansed when they leave our factory. Before we deliver our cranes, we individually test their hydraulic functions and certify that each crane meets our cleanliness requirements.
The difference made by our cleanliness requirements is measurable. Using proven ISO methods to verify oil quality, we’ve shown it in before and after studies.
But the most important difference is the one our customers feel in the end. When you buy a HIAB loader crane, you get more than a crane with top-notch performance. You get a crane you can trust to get the job done, time and time again.
