Cranes’ many tasks – helping in a drinking water project in Mozambique

Some time ago, Hiab received a request from Water is our World foundation, working in cooperation with Dutch well drilling company Klinge. Good drinking water is essential for both the individual health of people but also the economic development of communities. Therefore, Water is our World has started several projects to provide drinking water for those in need in developing countries. At the moment, their main projects are in Surinam, Vietnam, Senegal and Moldova.

The foundation has a project also in Mozambique, Southern Africa, focused on drilling of wells in small villages to serve the inhabitants with taps with clean, reliable drinking water. For this project, there was a need for a service vehicle handling heavy loads – and who better to help than Hiab.

So, Hiab was happy to donate for the project a used HIAB 085D-4 loader crane, with a vertical reach of 17 meter and intended to handle loads up to 1.5 tons. The service truck with the crane was built in Holland, and transported to Chimoio in Mozambique.

We are pleased to announce that the foundation expects to drill the first wells halfway this year!
