This position will report to the Workshop Manager or Senior Service Technician. The purpose of the role is to gain skills and experience required to become a Service Technician in the time frame specified by the Company by contributing to service activities at external or Hiab location as instructed by a relevant supervisor.


This position reports to the Regional Service Manager and is responsible for providing maintenance service to the Hiab Cranes, Moffet Truck Mounted Forklifts (TMFL) and large trucks/trailers. The Shop Mechanic will support Field Service Technicians with repairs, preventative maintenance and refurbishment of existing equipment. Key responsibilities will include providing timely diagnosis/repair and regular preventative maintenance to the Cargotec product lines, including truck mounted cranes, truck mounted forklifts, utilizing hand, air and electric hand tools; Operating forklifts, cranes and mechanical hoists as needed. Candidate will be responsible for assisting personnel in the field, with documentation, report of labor, work orders and inspections. 


Our expectations:

In order to be successful in this position we believe you fulfil the following criteria:

  • High School diploma required. Technical certification, training is preferred
  • Minimum of one (1) or more years’ experience in mechanical troubleshooting and equipment repairs including, electrical, electronic control, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, structural and engine systems preferred
  • Mobile, adaptable and able to work in variable physical site conditions
  • Qualification from higher vocational school (below Graduate/BSc level) in at least one of the following:  mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics and electronics or equivalent due to experience
  • Fluent in local language and working knowledge of English, spoken and written
  • Driving license
  • Ability to quickly learn about and retain technical information
  • Positive work oriented attitude
  • Good hands-on skills as required for relevant mechanical operations
  • Able to cope with stressful situations
  • Capable of developing ability to operate independently
  • Acts responsibly in the light of prevailing circumstances
  • Able to safely operate equipment for the purpose of conducting tests and repair
  • Basic computer skills
